California Natives
In spring and fall, our California Native department is loaded with
plants indigenous to California.
Here you will find varieties of Arctostaphyllos, Ceanothus and
Salvias as well as Toyon (Heteromeles) and Rhus.
Visit in spring and you will see a blaze of color provided by natives
such as the showy yellow flowered Fremontedendron and the vivid blues of
Ceanothus.
Other flowering Santa Monica Mountain natives to look for are
Sisyrinchium (Blue-eyed Grass), Epilobium (Zauschneria), Romneya (Matilija
Poppy), and Eriogonum.
