BLACK MONUKKA
Large, purple-black, sweet and crisp.
Does not require as much summer heat as Thompson. Seedless. Use fresh or
for raisins. Ripens early to mid-season.
CABERNET SAUVIGNON
Small, spherical black, strongly
flavored fruit. One of the most renowned red wine grapes. Ripens late
September to October.
CALIFORNIA CONCORD
Large, oblong, blue-black, seeded
grape. Sweet flavored. Good for mild coastal and cold winter areas. Good
for table, juice and jelly. Ripens September.
CHAMPAGNE (Black
Corinth)
Tiny dark red to black fruit. Seedless
and sweet. Used for drying into ‘currants’ or served as a snack, on
salads, appetizers or with cheese. Ripens Mid August.
FANTASY
Large, black, seedless table and raisin
grape. Excellent flavor. Holds on vine very well. Stores well. Ripens
early August along with Thompson Seedless.
FLAME
Red skin with firm flesh. Good eating
quality. Crisp and sweet. Needs hot summers. Very productive table and
raisin grape. Seedless. Ripens early. Late July.
PERLETTE
One third larger than Thompson
Seedless. Large, pale green, seedless, crisp, juicy. Seedless. Table and
raisin grape. Grows in a larger climate range than Thompson Seedless.
Late July.
RED GLOBE
Huge, ruby-red skinned, seeded table
grape. Semi-sweet to slightly tart flavor.
SHIRAZ (SYRAH)
The number one wine grape in Australia.
The reddish-black grape produces full rich wines of intense color and
flavor. Ripens mid-season, which is September in San Joaquin Valley to
October in coastal climates.
THOMPSON SEEDLESS
Pale green to golden, very sweet, likes
heat. Table and raisin grape. Early August.
ZINFANDEL
Medium, round. For fruity red wines.
Purple to black, juicy wine grape. Prefers mild winters, cool summers.
Ripens August.
