FLORDAHOME
Low-chill pear
from Florida. Very nice quality: sweet, smooth-textured, juicy,
flavorful. Harvest July/August in southern California. Early bloom.
Chilling requirement less than 400 hours. Partly self-fruitful or
pollenize with Hood.
HOOD
150-250 hours.
Large, smooth, yellow-green skin. Sweet, mild pear flavor. Tree is
upright and spreading. Highly resistant to fireblight. Best pollenized
by Flordahome. Ripens mid to
late July.
SECKEL
Connoisseurs'
favorite. Sweet, flavorful, spicy, aromatic, perhaps the best. Russet
brown skin. Resists fire- blight. 500 hours. Full crop 800 hours.
Self-fruitful in arid West.
