Gardenias
No Southern California garden is
complete without the exquisite fragrance of the flowers of the Gardenia. We
stock many varieties from low growing, dwarf types that are excellent for
containers and small gardens to large flowering varieties that make excellent
specimens, hedges or foundation plantings. Some of the Gardenia varieties we

Gardenia thunbergii
10’ tall and 20’ wide
Large 3-4” single, 8-petaled,
pinwheel-like creamy white flowers
Winter blooming, protect from frost.
Angular branching. With age becomes
more vigorous and floriferous
Gardenia thunbergii is used for the
rootstock of some grafted varieties.
This species is nematode and rot
resistant thus grafted varieties tend to tolerate poor soils better than
non-grafted plants.

through warm winters

Gardenia jasminoides ‘White Gem’

Grafted Gardenias
Gardenias that are grafted on to
Gardenia thunbergii rootstock are available by special order. Grafted Gardenias
tend to tolerate poor soils and absorb nutrients better than non-grafted plants.
The following varieties can be special ordered as grafted plants: First Love,
